There are almost an unlimited number of ways to
learn about computers over the internet, as you might already be aware of.
You can do correspondence course, or look at FAQ's if there are specific
details that you want to know more about. There are also mailing lists and
news servers, where experts will answer your questions to help you learn
about computers, simply out of their own generosity. All these are good ways
to learn about computers, but if you are really serious, there is an even
better electronic method.
MIT puts all of its courses online, so you can learn about computers from
one of the best computer programs in the entire world. You can download
lectures, textbooks, and everything else that you need to learn about
computers from your own home. The only thing that you can not do,
unfortunately, is ask for help from the professor, which actually can be a
problem. You see, the MIT classes are, as you might imagine, very difficult
and time consuming, especially if you have no background in computer
science. With persistence, you will be able to use them to learn about
computers, however you may not be willing to invest the amount of time and
effort required to study this way.
A good compromise, if you want to learn about computers but are not ready
for an MIT computer science class, is to take a course at a community
college. This has many advantages over other methods of learning more about
computers. One of them is that you will be on a schedule, so you will not be
able to dawdle and procrastinate. You will learn about computers, because
you will always have tests and assignments which you have to complete. In my
opinion, this is the best method to study
computer education.
